What are the symptoms of median nerve injury?

The symptoms of median nerve injury are mainly motor deficits and sensory deficits in the upper extremities. The median nerve is relatively superficial in the wrist and elbow and is easily injured, especially when suicide by cutting the wrist is involved. The median nerve has no corresponding branches above the elbow joint, and injuries can be divided into high and low injuries. Low-level injuries are mainly wrist injuries, where the patient presents with paralysis of all interosseous and earthworm muscles, as well as sensory deficits in the innervated hand. Clinical manifestations include thumb to palm dysfunction and radial hemisensory deficits of the hand. In the case of supra-elbow injuries, this can manifest as paralysis of the forearm muscles, as well as flexion dysfunction of the thumb and middle and ring fingers.
