The condition does not heal on its own and once stuck needs urgent treatment. It can be dealt with in a hospital urology department where the doctor can reset the foreskin by manipulation or, if necessary, by cutting open the back of the narrow ring of foreskin and surgically resetting it. Inadequate treatment can lead to serious consequences such as ischaemia and necrosis of the head of the penis.
