The treatment of amblyopia is a long-term process that requires a lot of time and effort from parents and children, and to a certain extent, it can be said that there is no rush as to how much to pay and how much to gain. A long enough course of amblyopia training is generally recommended for children with amblyopia. However, as the child grows up and enters elementary school or even secondary school, the school workload becomes heavier and the time to do amblyopia training cannot be guaranteed, or the child does not want to continue because of the cosmetic problems of masking treatment. Parents always ask, “How is amblyopia considered cured? The criteria for curing amblyopia are, firstly, the best corrected visual acuity of 0.9 and above in both eyes and no decrease in visual acuity for three years of follow-up; secondly, the higher criteria are the formation of simultaneous binocular vision and stereopsis; if treatment is stopped too quickly during the visual development period before the age of 12, there will often be another decrease in visual acuity in the amblyopic eye. The recurrence rate was 11.88% for only 1 year of consolidation treatment, 2.93% for 2 years, only 1 case for 3 years, and none for more than 3 years. Therefore, during the treatment of amblyopia, it is not possible to stop the treatment as soon as the visual acuity of 0.9 is reached. It is necessary to continue to consolidate the treatment and follow up for 3 years. In addition, after the vision is normalized, we should actively train the child for simultaneous vision and stereo vision, so that the child can obtain the same visual function as normal children.
