If adenomyosis is particularly severe, if the uterus is very large or if there are adenomyomas, the chances of success in IVF are generally low. Women with severe adenomyosis and low chances of conception should be routinely given subcutaneous injections of goserelin before IVF for treatment of adenomyosis, and after the uterus has shrunk significantly or the symptoms of adenomyosis have improved significantly, IVF can be performed to improve the chances of conception. After IVF, fetal preservation treatment should be routinely given, at least until after 3 months, when the placenta is more firmly formed, so IVF can be successful for women with adenomyosis.
