OAB is a syndrome characterized by symptoms of urinary urgency, often associated with urinary frequency and nocturia, with or without urge incontinence; it can manifest urodynamically as overactivity of the detrusor muscles or other forms of urethral-vesical dysfunction. symptoms due to acute urinary tract infection or other forms of localized lesions of the bladder-urethra. Urgency is a sudden, strong desire to urinate that is difficult to suppress subjectively and delays urination; urge incontinence is incontinence that accompanies or immediately follows urgency; and frequency is a complaint in which the patient feels that he or she is urinating too often each day. On the basis of subjective perception, adults urinate up to: ≥8 times during the day and ≥2 times at night.
