Parents should take their child to the hospital for a detailed examination in a timely manner to clarify the cause of the condition. If there is a condition such as tonsillitis or sinusitis, medication may be an option for conservative treatment first. If medication is not particularly effective, surgery may be indicated if necessary. If there is airway obstruction (snoring and open-mouth breathing during sleep), polysomnography is required to determine the extent to which this is affecting the child and, if necessary, to treat it surgically.
