Surgical treatment for enlarged tonsils

Surgical treatment of enlarged tonsils is clinically divided into tonsillectomy and tonsillectomy. Tonsil squeezing is used less and less in clinical practice, mainly because tonsil squeezing is mainly applied under local anesthesia and the surgery is faster. However, there are obvious disadvantages, such as residual tonsils, incomplete intraoperative hemostasis, small patients who do not cooperate during surgery and do not open their mouths, and the surgery cannot be performed. Tonsillectomy is divided into tonsillectomy under local anesthesia and tonsillectomy under general anesthesia. Outpatient tonsillectomy under local anesthesia is generally not done in outpatient clinics due to the risk of postoperative infection and bleeding, and tonsillectomy is performed under general anesthesia. Patients are removed smoothly while asleep and bleeding is stopped thoroughly during the operation. In recent years, the maturity and promotion of plasma technology has led to the application of plasma tonsillectomy under general anesthesia, which has been widely used in clinical practice.
