What causes cholangitis?

There are many clinical causes of cholangitis, which may be related to bile duct stones, biliary tract bacterial infections, biliary parasites, biliary stasis, bile duct strictures and biliary tumours. The main manifestation is pain in the right upper abdomen and subxiphoid process. There may also be more pronounced symptoms of fever, which may even reach 39-40°C. Some patients may have chills before the fever, and patients may also develop more pronounced jaundice.
