Does sciatica heal on its own?

Whether sciatica can heal on its own needs to be determined on a patient-by-patient basis. For younger patients with milder symptoms and shorter duration, it may heal spontaneously after recuperation. Sciatica is a clinical condition caused by a variety of diseases such as lumbar herniation and pear-shaped muscle syndrome. Mild lumbar disc herniation compresses nerve roots and causes sciatic nerve pain, which can be relieved in most cases after adequate rest, sleeping on a hard bed, strengthening warmth, and various interventions such as anti-inflammatory and analgesic and nerve-nourishing medication. In the case of pear-shaped muscle syndrome, most patients can also alleviate the discomfort by resting in bed and avoiding local pressure. If the symptoms are more severe and interfere with normal life, self-healing is usually less likely. When sciatica occurs, patients can choose cold compresses, medication, or physical therapy, such as ultrashort wave therapy, under the guidance of a neurologist.
