The third molar is commonly known as the wisdom tooth. When there is enough space behind the teeth to erupt, they can be parallel to other teeth. However, there is often not enough space for the tooth to erupt, so it is called an obstructed wisdom tooth. There are various ways of blocking the eruption of this tooth. Therefore, the following conditions can occur: 1) inflammation (pericoronitis, interstitial infection); 2) decay of the wisdom tooth and adjacent teeth; 3) tilted displacement of adjacent teeth; 4) pericoronal pocket; 5) easy fracture in case of trauma. Therefore, it is recommended that obstructed wisdom teeth should be extracted as soon as possible.
