Common pediatric skin disease pityriasis simplex in the spring

  Pityriasis simplex
  A. Overview
1.Commonly known as “peach fungus”, is a common disease characterized by dry furfuraceous scaly hypopigmented spots, which occurs on the face of children and adolescents.
  2. Chinese medicine used to call it “worm spot”, for which I have the following understanding: a. It is called “worm spot”.
  a. One of the reasons for calling it “worm spot”: it is thought to be related to roundworm infection. However, after giving the patient deworming medicine, no roundworm was found in the stool, and the disease would not improve, so it is now denied to be related to roundworm infection.
  b. Another reason for calling it “worm spot”: it is possible that the appearance of one hypopigmented spot is similar to that of roundworms, so it is called that.
Tip: This disease has nothing to do with “roundworm infection”, so the people should not blindly deworming treatment.
Second, the cause of the disease
The cause of the disease is unknown. It is generally believed to be related to the following factors.
1.Infection. Mostly thought to be related to fungal infection, streptococcal infection.
2, malnutrition. Mostly thought to be related to micronutrient deficiencies, such as zinc, selenium, vitamin B group, etc.
3, wind and sun exposure. Mostly seen in outdoor workers.
4, other, such as alkaline soap washing too much.
  Third, the clinical manifestations
  1.Popularity: children.
  2. Preferred site: face, especially the cheeks, forehead, occasionally seen in the neck, limbs and trunk.
  3. Season: spring, but some people can occur all year round.
4.Lesions: scattered round or oval hypopigmented spots of varying sizes, with still clear borders, dry surface and a small amount of fine grayish white scales. (Because the scales are not easy to see when washing the face every day).
  5.Self-perceived symptoms: none.
6.Prognosis: good. It can heal itself in a few months to a year or more.
  Four, differential diagnosis
  Differentiate from vitiligo
1, the latter lesions are irregular pigment loss spots of varying sizes, porcelain white, clear borders, no scales on the surface.
2, the latter Woods examination shows: bright white fluorescence is visible under the white spot. And simple furuncle no.
  V. Treatment
  1.Systemic treatment
Supplementation of vitamin B and trace elements such as zinc, etc. Chinese medicine can be taken if necessary.
  2.Topical treatment
Glucocorticoid ointment, 5% sulfur ointment, 1% gentamycin ointment, antifungal ointment and moisturizer can be given.
Tips: specific medication under the guidance of the doctor.
  Sixth, prevention
1, a reasonable diet, to develop fine and coarse grains with food, eat more fruits and vegetables.
2, avoid using too strong alkaline detergent bathing.
3, avoid exposure to the sun.
