What should I do if I have “heat rash”?

Babies sweat a lot and once they are not cleaned in time, red papules (prickly heat) or even small pustules (pustular heat) may appear on the forehead, neck, chest and back areas. It occurs firstly because of the high sweating; secondly because of the blockage of sweat glands and sweat pores; and thirdly because of the inflammation on the surface of the blocked sweat pores. In fact, prickly heat is a local inflammation of the sweat hole and its surrounding skin. When there is a pus head (which is a small abscess formed by red prickly heat + bacterial infection), it is a more serious case of prickly heat, commonly known as “pus head prickly heat”. If the pus head is scratched by the baby, it can become a boil or pustule. Once the baby has heat rash, it means that the mother has made a mistake in “cooling” and “dehumidification”. Therefore, the mother should promptly lower the indoor temperature, the reasonable use of air conditioning and fans, room temperature can be maintained at about 26 ℃, air conditioning and fans do not blow to the baby; morning and evening open the window ventilation, keep the indoor environment dry. Use the right medicine and seek medical consultation in time. When the symptoms are mild, you can use stove glycolic lotion after giving your baby a bath. Try not to let the baby scratch himself. If the rash does not fade away or if there are pustules breaking out, go to the hospital to avoid aggravation. When there is no prickly heat yet, after each bath, the mother can put a thin layer of prickly heat powder on the baby’s skin folds to prevent it.
