What is Artificial Joint Replacement

Artificial joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which a human-made prosthetic joint is surgically implanted to replace the function of a diseased joint for the purpose of maintaining joint function and improving quality of life. Artificial joint replacement is mainly used to treat end-stage joint diseases. As for joint replacement, it can only be done when certain conditions are met. For example, joint replacement can be considered for severe osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic arthritis, arthritis due to congenital developmental deformities or joint pain, and symptoms such as joint dysfunction. If the patient’s condition is so severe that he or she is unable to perform a large amount of movement even after joint replacement, it makes little sense to have a joint replacement. The patient’s physical and economic conditions should be taken into account before the artificial joint replacement is performed to determine whether to perform the joint replacement surgery and what kind of prosthesis to use. At present, the technology of artificial joint replacement is basically mature in major hospitals in China. For patients with serious joint conditions, conservative and minimally invasive can not improve their conditions, they can consider this surgical solution to solve joint problems and improve their quality of life if their body, age and economy allow it.
