How to treat osteomyelitis

Osteomyelitis is an infection of bone and periosteum, divided into acute osteomyelitis and chronic osteomyelitis, which is mainly caused by bacterial infection. With the improvement of people’s living standard, primary osteomyelitis is becoming less and less common. However, with the increase in traffic accidents, post-traumatic osteomyelitis is becoming more common. Chronic osteomyelitis is one of the most difficult diseases to treat in orthopedics, and it is easy to relapse after treatment, often forming localized sinus tracts that do not heal over time, from which dead bone often flows, causing great physical and psychological pain to patients. Long-term sinus tract drainage can stimulate skin malignancy and turn into skin cancer, so all chronic osteomyelitis needs to be treated actively. Many people have suffered from osteomyelitis since then and have not been able to cure it until they leave this world. Is it true that there is no cure for osteomyelitis? We provide several successful cases of treatment for persistent osteomyelitis, hoping to bring some hope to patients who have been troubled by osteomyelitis for a long time. In conclusion, the use of tissue flap transplantation with blood transport after complete lesion removal is the surgical method with the highest success rate in treating chronic recalcitrant osteomyelitis and has been clinically proven to be effective.
