What are Geriatric Warts? How is it treated?

Geriatric warts, also known as seborrheic keratoses, are benign intraepidermal tumors caused by delayed maturation of epidermal keratinocytes, mostly seen in the elderly, although they can also be seen in young adults, but generally occur after the age of 30 to 40. It usually develops slowly and gradually expands to the periphery, but it can also fuse into a large mass and has no tendency to heal itself. Complications of basal cell carcinoma have been reported, but are very rare. The disease involves only cosmetic problems and usually does not require treatment, but if the diagnosis is unclear, itchy, or inflammatory, surgical excision is possible, in addition to laser or cryotherapy.
