What kind of people are suitable for dental implants?

Although artificial dental implants are only a minor procedure, there are certain requirements for the patient’s general and local conditions. In general, implant prostheses can be considered for healthy people who are able to undergo routine extractions and minor outpatient oral surgery. As long as the patient does not have heart disease, severe hypertension, endocrine dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, serious diseases of the hematological system, and the oral tissues are in good condition, the patient is eligible for implant prosthesis. In terms of age, it is generally possible after 18 years of age. The oldest patient in our clinic was 73 years old, and four implants were placed in the mandibular anterior region. The main indications for implant denture restoration are: 1, patients with toothless jaws due to severe resorption of alveolar bone, trauma or surgery, etc., resulting in large morphological changes in the alveolar bone, resulting in poor retention of the restoration; 2, those with high restoration requirements that cannot be met by conventional dentures; 3, those who cannot adapt to removable dentures for various reasons; 4, missing individual teeth, adjacent teeth are not antagonistic; 5, M bone defects during the same period of vascularized bone grafting Restoration, or free bone grafting 3 to 6 months later. In fact, the implant prosthesis is very suitable for patients with bilateral or unilateral missing posterior teeth. The so-called free posterior teeth are missing because there are no molars against the posterior side of the missing teeth, so it is not possible to use the conventional metal porcelain fixed bridge restoration, and only movable dentures can be used routinely. Another situation is that single or several teeth are missing, the teeth before and after the missing teeth are healthy, no caries, no periodontitis, etc.. In addition, if the patient is missing all teeth, it is difficult to adapt to the conventional full denture or feels that the chewing efficiency is not high, and requires a more comfortable restoration method, he or she can consider using implant prosthetics, as to whether to use a full implant-supported fixed denture or an overdenture, it is necessary to discuss with the implantologist.
