Can capillary bronchitis be eradicated?

Capillary bronchitis is an acute inflammatory disease of the lower respiratory tract involving mainly the fine bronchi. It is commonly seen in infants and young children and is mainly caused by respiratory syncytial virus infection, which can be completely eradicated with standard treatment in most children. The symptoms of wheezing, shortness of breath, and even dyspnea are mainly symptomatic and etiologic treatment. In addition, glucocorticoids and bronchodilators should be used to calm the wheezing and to correct the symptoms of hypoxia according to the oxygen saturation and blood gas analysis, and to balance water and electrolytes to keep the airway open and to prevent heart failure. If heart failure is complicated, digitalis may be given. For viral infections, antiviral drugs and Chinese medicines are given. For secondary bacterial infections, antibiotics, mainly penicillin and amoxicillin, should be given. The disease can be completely eradicated through a series of standardized treatments.
