Ear points are acupoints located on the auricle, also called reaction points and stimulation points. When the body’s internal organs or the body is ill, local reactions such as pressure pain, nodules, discoloration, and electrical conductivity will often appear in certain parts of the auricle. This phenomenon can be used as a reference for diagnosing diseases or stimulating these reaction points (auricular points) to prevent and treat various diseases, such as cervical spondylosis. The distribution of auricular points is like that of an inverted fetus in the mother’s body: head down, hips up. Visually, if the cervical acupuncture points are nodular, bead-like, or striped with uneven heights, and if they are symptomatic, they are dotted with a red halo or have red edges, i.e., a “dotted white with red edges” color change, or in some patients, a lamellar thickening with red edges, this suggests the possibility of cervical spondylosis. The site of cervical spondylosis can be distinguished according to the location of the positive reactive material. On palpation, nodular or bead-like or striated objects can be palpated at cervical acupuncture points with significant pressure pain. In addition, pressure pain may be present at the kidney points. The location of osteophytes can be inferred from the location of the strips palpated at the cervical acupoints. For example, if strips or nodules are palpated at the cervical acupoints near the choropleural cut, this mostly suggests osteophytes in the 3rd and 4th cervical vertebrae, while if strips are palpated at the cervical acupoints near the thoracic vertebrae, this mostly suggests osteophytes in the 5th, 6th, and 7th cervical vertebrae. In general, nerve root type cervical spondylosis is characterized by nodules and pressure points; vertebral artery type is dominated by flushed bulges or striae; spinal cord type is distinctly characterized by hard brown bulges; and cervical type cervical spondylosis is characterized by lamellar thickening. The auricular points can be used not only as a method of diagnosing cervical spondylosis, but also to prevent and treat the disease through the stimulation of the auricular points. With the development of science and technology, the exploration and research of auricular acupuncture treatment methods are also increasing. There are many commonly used auricular acupuncture treatment methods including: auricular acupuncture needle method such as milli-needle method, electro-acupuncture method and buried needle method, auricular acupuncture moxibustion method such as thread moxibustion, match moxibustion and moxibustion; auricular acupuncture cut treatment method such as bloodletting method and cut-and-apply method; auricular acupuncture massage method and auricular acupuncture pressure method such as pressure bean method. But in daily life, the most commonly used, the effect is also better is the ear point massage method and pressure bean method. Ear point massage method is as follows: the thumb and index finger abdomen of both hands press the cervical acupuncture point, subcortical acupuncture point and shoulder occipital point in the ear with force, the pain sensation is tolerated by the patient himself, the main technique is twisting and pulling technique, each twisting and pressing 5 times, with pulling 3 seconds, the whole process lasts for 1 minute, to the ear swelling and hot feeling is appropriate, the number of presses is unlimited, but should not be less than 10 times a day. The method of ear acupuncture pressure bean method is as follows: choose a small hard and smooth drug seed or pill to press the ear acupuncture point instead of the ear needle. Commonly used materials can be used such as Wang Bu Liuxin seeds Liushen Wan. Cut the adhesive tape into several pieces of 0.6 cm x 0.6 cm size and set aside. The pressure point is explored through auricular diagnosis. After disinfecting the ear with 75% alcohol and leaving it to dry, the left hand fixes the ear, and the right hand uses tweezers to take the adhesive tape with the pressure material and apply it to each of the above points, and press it for several minutes to obtain the “needle feeling” of heat, swelling, and release in the ear. Generally, each time the pressure is applied, it can be placed on each of the above points for 3-7 days, and during the period of pressure, the patient presses the point 2-3 times a day by himself, each time for 1-2 minutes, and the pressure is applied 5 times for a course of treatment. When performing auricular acupoint pressure bean method, attention should be paid to prevent adhesive tape allergy. The duration of pressure should not be too long in summer when sweating, and should not be applied in winter at the ear Guo frostbite.
