How to recognize iodine?

  The American Thyroid Association Public Health Committee’s recommendations for iodine: 1. Adequate iodine intake is necessary to maintain normal thyroid function.  2. The recommended daily intake of iodine for non-pregnant adults is 150ug. 3. Pregnant and nursing women should take a vitamin containing 150ug of potassium iodide.  4. The maximum allowable daily intake of iodine should not exceed 1100ug. iodine intake or algae supplements such as kelp should not exceed 500ug per day.
