Frontal sinusitis is an inflammatory disease of the mucous membrane of the frontal sinuses, often secondary to rhinitis, and often coexists with inflammation of the pterygoid, septal and maxillary sinuses. The main clinical manifestations are: nasal congestion, runny nose, localised pain and headache symptoms. Acute frontal sinusitis is an infection of the mucous membrane of the frontal sinuses based on an upper respiratory tract infection, mostly caused directly by viruses or bacteria. Chronic frontal sinusitis is most often caused by repeated attacks of acute frontal sinusitis that are not completely cured and are prolonged.
