Alcohol wipe to reduce fever is a commonly used method to reduce fever in life, generally 75% medical alcohol to warm boiling water (32-34 ℃) to a concentration of 25%-30% alcohol water for body wipe to cool down.
Commonly used wipe parts for the groin, double upper limbs, popliteal fossa, armpits, etc., but the forehead, abdomen, back of the neck and other parts are sensitive to cold stimulation, should not be wiped with alcohol. Alcohol bath should be wiped from top to bottom vascular rich parts, common wipe order as follows.
1.Both upper limbs
(1) lateral neck — shoulder — lateral upper shoulder arm — lateral forearm — back of the hand
(2) lateral chest — armpit — inner upper arm — inner forearm — palm
2.Lower back: lower neck shoulder — hip
3.Both lower limbs
(1) lateral: iliac bone — lateral lower limb — dorsum of foot
(2) Medial: groin — medial thigh — inner ankle
(3) Posterior: subgluteal — posterior thigh — popliteal fossa — heel
Although the use of alcohol for fever reduction can achieve the desired effect, in order to avoid adverse effects, the following aspects should be noted when using it.
1, before the alcohol bath, the patient’s forehead should be placed on an ice pack or cold towel to assist in cooling.
2, to ensure that the concentration of alcohol is reasonable, water temperature slightly higher than body temperature when blending water can be.
3, the best choice when wiping small pieces of cotton gauze or handkerchief, good absorbency, moderate friction.
4, the scrubbing action should be gentle, the force should be uniform, skin rubbing until red is appropriate.
5, infants under 2 years of age, the elderly and infirm, rheumatism patients should not be cooled with alcohol.
6.If symptoms such as chills, chills and change in color occur during the operation, it should be stopped immediately.
7. Alcohol wiping is prohibited in cases of allergic history to ethanol and skin damage.
8, avoid the precordial area (can cause slow heart rate or arrhythmia), abdomen (can cause diarrhea), the back of the neck, and the foot area (can cause transient coronary artery contraction).
