How to prevent and control fatty liver?

In recent years, with the change of people’s diet structure and lifestyle, fatty liver patients not only gradually increase, but also tend to be younger. Patients often do not pay enough attention to symptoms such as mild loss of appetite, nausea, weakness and discomfort in the right upper abdomen due to the long-term work and life rhythm, and individual patients even mistake it for chronic gastritis, cholecystitis or heat stroke attack, which delays the opportunity of treatment until vomiting, jaundice and other manifestations similar to acute and subacute viral hepatitis, and even complications such as liver coma and kidney failure The first step is to regret too late. Combined with my clinical experience over the years, fatty liver is not an independent disease, but is due to a variety of causes that cause the liver to lose its basic digestive, detoxification and secretion and other physiological functions. The disease is not only related to obesity, diabetes, hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, alcoholism, hyperlipidemia, drug damage, malnutrition and genetics, but also related to hypertension and gallbladder stone formation. Among them, long-term alcoholism has become the number one killer of liver damage, and its pathogenic mechanism is: the toxicity of alcohol causes the hepatocytes to break down and metabolize fatty acids to become fatty liver. For thousands of years, the phenomenon of “wine culture” has been formed in China’s long history, although there are rumors that “wine is the longest of all medicines” and “wine can pass blood”, but there are also “painful to drink is hurt”, “damage the essence of bone, phlegm and fire” warning. So the more you drink, the heavier your fatty liver will undoubtedly be, and the more likely you are to induce liver fibrosis, which can then evolve into alcoholic cirrhosis, while its causative factors such as malnutrition, drug and toxic substance damage likewise play a role in the development of liver cancer as a contributing factor. At present, modern medicine has few drugs for treating fatty liver, but Chinese medicine is effective in diagnosis and treatment, and has less side effects, so it has a greater prospect of playing an advantage. Chinese medicine often classifies this disease as “accumulation”, “phlegm turbidity”, “dystrophy”, “liver fetish”, etc. The author, as one of the academic successors of Yu Lifang’s workshop, based on the academic views of my teacher and my clinical experience over the past ten years, believes that the pathogenesis of this disease is: loss of drainage of the liver, stagnation of qi and blood; spleen deficiency and loss of transportation, phlegm and dampness, of which phlegm, stagnation, dampness and spleen deficiency are the main pathological keys of this disease, in addition to Chinese medicine diagnosis and typing, combined with detailed clinical examination, ultrasound, CT, blood lipids, liver function and other modern medical means to clarify. According to the different clinical manifestations of the patients, the basic method is to dredge the liver, stimulate the bile, strengthen the spleen, harmonize the stomach, tonify the kidney, activate the blood, regulate the qi, dissolve phlegm, relieve dampness and clear heat, etc., in order to achieve the treatment objective of both the symptoms and the root cause. Modern pharmacology proves that the herbs used are effective in protecting the liver, lowering enzymes and lipids, resisting lipid peroxidation, increasing free radical scavenging, regulating body immunity and preventing liver fibrosis, etc. The clinical efficacy is remarkable. We welcome all patients to visit our clinic, where I will not only provide careful diagnosis and treatment for each patient, but also give you guidance on disease prevention in terms of life and living, including a 16-word explanation of the key to liver protection.
