There are more causes of persistent nasal congestion and runny nose, and most patients are caused by inflammatory reactions, more commonly allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinitis, and hypertrophic rhinitis. Some patients are also caused by chronic sinusitis, and fungal sinusitis. After this condition, it is recommended to visit the ENT department, where routine blood tests can be done to help determine the presence of acute bacterial or viral infections and inflammation. A nasal endoscopy is also required, which helps to identify the lesions inside the nasal cavity. Most of the patients can choose medication, the more commonly used are oral medication, nasal spray, and saline rinsing of the nasal cavity. For a small number of patients with severe disease, medication is not effective and nasal endoscopic surgery is required.
