Basic methods of topical dermatology

There is a simple principle of topical dermatology: dry to dry, wet to wet, not dry or wet with paste. That is, when there is more exudation, use wet compresses; when there is less exudation, use lotions and pastes; when it is dry, crusty and scaly, use creams and ointments. According to the different rash stages to choose the topical drug form, must be used under the guidance of professional dermatologists, otherwise it is likely to use the wrong drug form leading to aggravation of skin lesions. In particular, the use of wet compresses should be emphasized: soak at least 4 layers of clean gauze with the medication and apply it to the oozing or red areas for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, or several times a day depending on the severity of the condition.
