Difference between erosion of the lining of the mouth and oral cancer

There are differences in symptomatic manifestation, pathological manifestation and prognosis between oral cavity wall erosion and oral cancer.
1. Symptoms are different: oral wall erosion can be manifested as irregularly shaped erosion on the inner wall of the oral cavity, with unclear margins with surrounding tissues, erosion in pieces, flush surrounding mucosa, and no protrusion or concavity. Oral cancer manifests as oral ulcers with raised edges around and uneven center, and the ulcers have secretions with bad smell and covered with necrotic tissues.
2. Pathological manifestations are different: the pathology of oral wall erosion is characterized by massive infiltration of lymphocytes, plasma cells and other inflammatory cells, while oral cancer can be found with cancer cells and abnormal hyperplasia.
3. Different prognosis: the prognosis of oral wall erosion is generally better and the course of the disease is shorter, while the prognosis of oral cancer is worse and prone to malignant transformation.
When there are abnormal ulcers and erosions in the oral cavity, it is necessary to consult a doctor in time, make a clear diagnosis under the guidance of a specialized doctor and take active treatment.
