Hospitalization for a few days for nasal polyp removal

Hospitalization for nasal polyp excision is about 5-7 days, or even about 7-10 days, there are certain differences and need to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis.

Nasal polyp is a benign neoplasm in the nasal cavity, translucent lyrium-shaped, round or oval neoplasm, clinical symptoms are mainly nasal congestion, runny nose, sometimes accompanied by decreased sense of smell, or even disappeared. The diagnosis of nasal polyp is mainly based on the coronal CT examination of paranasal sinuses, and surgery is required after the diagnosis is confirmed. Before surgery, we need to be admitted to the hospital to improve the relevant examination, and after there is no clear contraindication to surgery, surgical treatment, and the application of antibiotics to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. Since nasal polyps are often associated with sinusitis, functional nasal endoscopic surgery is feasible to remove nasal polyps and open the sinus passages at the same time, while doing nasal flushing to reduce nasal mucosal congestion and reduce the chance of bleeding. After the surgery, the nasal cavity is clear and the sinus inflammation is controlled or eliminated, and the patient is usually discharged after 5-7 days of hospitalization.

After nasal polyp surgery, patients should visit ENT regularly to clean up dry crusts in the nasal cavity as well as to check for smaller polyp formation.
