In most cases, the condition of nasal polyps requires surgical treatment. If some patients have relatively small polyps or simply show localized polyp-like changes in the mucosa of the turbinates, they can be treated conservatively with medications. Drugs are mainly hormonal nasal spray drugs, such as mometasone furoate nasal spray, fluticasone propionate nasal spray and so on, but also the corresponding oral antihistamines, and leukotriene receptor blockers, such as desloratadine, cetirizine hydrochloride, montelukast sodium and so on, can help reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa, edema state, can make the local polyp-like lesions or polyp tissue smaller. If medication is not effective, or if the polyps are progressively larger, further surgery may be required.
