Precautions for Circumcision

Dear patients, you are ready for circumcision, in order to have a smooth operation and an early recovery after surgery, please remember the following precautions:

I. Pre-operative precautions

1.Patients with a history of bleeding disorders (such as hemophilia, leukemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, etc., or frequent subcutaneous petechiae, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, or traumatic bleeding that cannot be easily stopped, etc.) and scarred patients must inform the doctor before surgery;

2. If the circumcision is combined with foreskin and penile head infection, anti-inflammatory treatment must be carried out in advance, and the surgery will be performed after the inflammation subsides. If there is inflammation before the operation, it is not conducive to the operation, because it is easy to lead to incision infection after the operation, and will lead to local adhesions;

3.On the day of surgery, clean the area and shave the pubic hair.

4.Empty plastic basket can be prepared before surgery as a bracket to prevent the cover from being pressed directly on the wound in order to reduce wound pain and prevent wound infection.

Second, postoperative precautions

1, post-operative lying rest (can stand to urinate) 3-4 days, as little as possible to walk, to prevent bleeding after the activity; avoid prolonged standing, sedentary, to avoid poor local blood circulation, resulting in the penis head swelling, poor wound healing.

3, postoperative incision bleeding: most common in the 24 hours after surgery. If the bleeding is not large, for example, the bleeding only stains part of the gauze, it can be treated without special treatment and can often stop bleeding by itself. If the bleeding from the incision does not stop and blood keeps dripping out from the gauze, or if the patient is not sure about the condition of the wound, he/she should go to the hospital immediately.

4, a week after surgery to maintain a calm mood (as little as possible to contact your lover or girlfriend, avoid thinking or contact with pornography, obscene magazines, passionate network pictures and videos), avoid sexual impulses and fantasies, hold urine, try to avoid erection, so as to avoid incision cracking, bleeding and infection, 40 days after surgery to prohibit sexual life. If an erection occurs, you should take deep breaths, relax and divert your attention. However, experts suggest that the healing time of the wound will be different depending on individual circumstances;

5, after surgery to prevent the cover is directly pressed in the wound using empty plastic baskets as a bracket, wear loose, breathable, cotton underwear, to reduce the friction of the penis head.

6.Change the dressing on the third and seventh day after surgery.

7. Avoid alcohol, spicy and stimulating food for 2 weeks after surgery. Proper nutrition can be enhanced with proper supplementation of fish, meat, eggs, etc.

8.The wound will heal in about a week, but it may still be cracked after healing such as strenuous exercise or trauma. If there is no bleeding, the wound can be healed by changing medication. If the wound is cracked more than once, please come to the hospital for treatment. After circumcision sutures generally do not need to be removed, sutures will automatically fall off in about 4 weeks after surgery, if there is redness and oozing at the sutures or more than 4 weeks still have not fallen off can come to the hospital to remove the sutures (do not remove the sutures by yourself).

9. Mild edema of the head of the penis within 3 to 4 days after surgery is a normal phenomenon, which is a reaction of the body caused by anesthesia and surgery and does not require special treatment. However, if blisters appear, or edema is serious, or the glans is bruised and battered, come to the hospital immediately for treatment.

10, surgery generally does not affect urination, some of the younger children due to penile pain reluctance to urinate, should be comforted or urged to urinate, if necessary, may need to return to the hospital catheterization; postoperative wound healing before urination to avoid wetting the gauze dressing, disposable paper cups can be used to cover the bottom in the local protection of the vulva, urination before the body tilt (or bend forward), so that the urethral orifice down, to reduce urine soaked dressing, urination end Wipe the urine from the urethra with a tissue when urination is finished to avoid wetting the dressing with urine. Allow a small amount of urine to be stained. Due to postoperative wound pressure dressing, postoperative urinary obstruction, urinary bifurcation, urinary dripping phenomenon is normal, and can be relieved after postoperative dressing change.

11. If there is obvious prepuce and glans adhesion before surgery, the foreskin and glans will be separated during surgery, and the separated surface will show ooze, erosion and crust after surgery, which is a normal recovery process, and erythromycin ointment should be applied to the urethral opening to prevent urethral blockage, and it will recover after about 2-3 weeks. After the operation, there is a possibility that the foreskin glans will be adhered again, and the foreskin should be turned up regularly.

12.Some patients may have foreskin covering part of the glans when the penis is not erect after surgery, this is a normal situation.

13.If the phenomenon of shelling and shedding occurs repeatedly at the glans within a few months after surgery, the glans becomes pale obviously, or even the urine line gradually becomes thinner and other abnormalities, outpatient review is required;

14.If the circumcision wound is narrowed and the glans is returned to the foreskin and cannot be revealed, early outpatient review is required.
