Pulpitis is an inflammation of the pulp tissue, caused by bacterial infection, etc. It is characterized by pain and is treated with medication and surgery. Bacteria and toxins that invade the pulp cavity can lead to infection, and dental caries is the most common cause of pulpitis. Trauma to the tooth can also lead to pulpitis. The most typical and common symptom of pulpitis is pain. Acute pulpitis pain occurs suddenly and paroxysmally in the absence of stimuli, is aggravated by hot or cold stimuli, and often wakes up at night with pain. Chronic pulpitis has spontaneous pain that is not severe. The treatment of endodontitis requires direct pulp capping, root canal therapy, and filling depending on the severity of the disease. Acute pulpitis is usually treated by opening the pulp for drainage, which usually relieves the patient’s pain quickly, followed by completion of root canal treatment. Endodontitis should be treated promptly.
