The PIP incident should be said to be an individual problem with the quality of breast implants, not a common problem. Silicone gel breast implants are tried and tested and finally retained as an effective material for breast reconstruction. A large amount of clinical and basic research data has confirmed the effectiveness and safety of breast implants. There is a surgical risk does not mean that the surgery is harmful. The expanded over-interpretation of the PIP incident has raised questions from patients about the safety of this surgery, any surgery has risks, risks are not equal to hazards, breast implant surgery is technically mature. The risks can be controlled to a minimum, and breast implant surgery is currently the safest and most effective way of breast augmentation surgery. There is no evidence that silicone gel breast implants have a direct relationship with known human diseases, and a large amount of survey data shows that: under the premise of standardized application, silicone implants will neither increase the risk of breast cancer nor affect fertility and breastfeeding, and is a safe and reliable breast augmentation material. Breast implants have been carried out in China for nearly thirty years, and hundreds of thousands of women have successfully undergone breast implant augmentation surgery. Most regular hospitals strictly implement the review, approval and follow-up system for medical materials, and the breast implants used are safe and secure. The French government has made it clear through investigation that PIP implants have nothing to do with the incidence of breast cancer, PIP materials are not used much in domestic public hospitals, but mainly in some private hospitals and some small beauty clinics. At present, silicone gel breast implants are mainly used in breast augmentation and breast reconstruction surgery.PIP implant events and the safety of the breast implant itself are two different issues.
