Notes for hyperthyroidism patient visits

Notes for outpatient visits Unexplained panic attacks, irritability, excessive sweating, hand trembling, easy hunger, and frequent bowel movements are recommended to see an endocrinologist to rule out hyperthyroidism. For first-time patients, please come to the hospital on an empty stomach to facilitate the relevant blood tests and examinations. For those who have been seen in other hospitals and are planning to be seen in our hospital, please bring your medical records of previous visits to other hospitals, as well as your nail function, thyroid ultrasound, liver function and blood count within the past month. Precautions for hyperthyroidism treatment 1. Regular work and rest schedule, less or no late nights, no strenuous exercise, and rest and recuperation are appropriate. Those with protruding eyes should use their eyes as little as possible, and wear sunglasses for outdoor activities to avoid bright light stimulation. 2, pay attention to maintain a good mood, control emotions. Family members and friends should also create a harmonious and warm family environment for hyperthyroidism patients. 3. Seafood (kelp, nori, seafood, fish and shrimp) should not be eaten during treatment. Iodized salt should be replaced by ordinary table salt or put in earlier when cooking dishes. Avoid the use of strong tea, coffee, tobacco and alcohol, which are stimulating. 4. Pay attention to the prevention of infection. The drugs used to treat hyperthyroidism tend to cause low white blood cells and granulocytes, which can easily lead to infections and relapse of hyperthyroidism. 5, after suffering from hyperthyroidism, women of childbearing age should not be pregnant when the disease is not under control. If you want to have children urgently, propylthiouracil can be used for treatment. During the course of treatment, the nail function (and liver function and blood count if necessary) should be reviewed regularly to facilitate timely dose adjustment. 6. If you stop the medication because of the improvement of symptoms, it is easy to relapse. Therefore, the medication should not be used as soon as possible, but should be adhered to throughout the treatment. The drug dose needs to be adjusted dynamically, and is never unchanging. The course of treatment is about one and a half to two years. 7, drug treatment should be combined with Chinese and Western. Chinese medicine can adjust the body’s immune function and reduce recurrence.
