Mild fatty liver found on physical examination

Most of the patients have an ultrasound report in their hands, and the conclusion says: fatty liver. If you look at these “fatty liver patients”, you will see that some of them have a big belly, some of them are oily, some of them are drunk, and some of them don’t look like patients at all. So, what exactly is fatty liver? How to treat it and how to prevent it? Fat in the liver? The term fatty liver, like coronary heart disease and high blood pressure, is a household word, but it is not as simple as having fat inside the liver. The broad definition of fatty liver includes alcoholic fatty liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. What we normally refer to, and what this article refers to, as fatty liver, is non-alcoholic simple fatty liver, which is classified as the latter, a metabolic stress liver injury. Non-alcoholic is emphasized in the name because it is similar to the type of liver damage caused by alcoholic fatty liver disease. It is often said that drinking alcohol hurts the liver, but the dangers of fatty liver are overlooked. Currently, 20 to 30 out of 100 average adults worldwide have fatty liver, and among obese patients, the percentage is as high as 60% to 90%. With economic development and lifestyle changes, the number of people with fatty liver in China is rapidly increasing, and the trend is toward younger age, with the prevalence of fatty liver in coastal areas now reaching 15%. The liver is the nutrient transfer station of the human body. The food eaten is digested and absorbed, and then it reaches the liver through the blood vessels, where it is processed by the liver cells and transformed into substances that can be used by other organs and then transported to the whole body. If the fat absorbed exceeds the processing capacity of the liver, it will be deposited in the liver cells. In addition to affecting the function of the liver itself, liver cells will also attract attacks from the immune system, causing inflammation, liver fibrosis and eventually cirrhosis of the liver. Is it advisable to lose weight? Patients often say: fatty liver is too much fat, then weight loss can be cured. But for most patients with mild, moderate and a few severe fatty liver, weight loss is the best strategy to reverse fatty liver. Weight loss is not just about dieting, as excessive dieting can reduce the production of proteins that transport lipids and increase the accumulation of lipids in the liver. As they say, keep your mouth shut and your legs open. Diet is recommended low sugar low fat balanced diet, daily calorie intake should be reduced than usual 500 ~ 1000 kcal; exercise to ensure more than 4 times a week of moderate intensity aerobic exercise, cumulative exercise time of at least 150 minutes. The effectiveness of weight loss depends on the data. Aspirants who are determined to eliminate fatty liver through weight loss should always pay attention to their body mass index (BMI = weight / height 2), which should generally be reduced by at least 5% in order to play a role in controlling fatty liver.
