Be Aware of Multiple Sclerosis

Ms. Wang, who is only in her early 30s this year, did not expect that her fatigue and blurred vision, which had lasted for some time, would not be cured, affecting her normal life, and she was finally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis after moving to several major hospitals. Multiple sclerosis is an incurable progressive disease of the nervous system that occurs in young adults between the ages of 15 and 40. It is reassuring to know that multiple sclerosis is treatable if patients can get the correct diagnosis. However, most people in China miss the opportunity to treat multiple sclerosis due to a lack of awareness of the disease. The common symptoms of multiple sclerosis patients include blurred vision, numbness, abnormal fatigue of limbs, etc. If left untreated, it can cause sudden blindness and paralysis in severe cases. At present, about 30,000 patients have been diagnosed in China, and many patients are not aware that they are suffering from multiple sclerosis. The key to the treatment of multiple sclerosis is early diagnosis and standardized treatment. At present, there is no complete medical cure for multiple sclerosis, but standardized treatment can control the development of the disease. Generally speaking, multiple sclerosis treatment is divided into acute exacerbation period and remission period. The acute exacerbation period is mainly treated by hormone shock therapy, and when entering remission period, new interferon therapy should be mainly used. Twenty-one years of domestic and international experience with the drug has confirmed that through long-term use of interferon beta-1b, the frequency and severity of multiple sclerosis attacks are significantly reduced and decreased, and the quality of life of patients is significantly improved.
