What is infertility?

Infertility refers to a couple of childbearing age who have normal sexual intercourse and do not use any contraceptive measures, but fail to conceive for one year; sterility refers to the lack of pregnancy and the ability to reproduce offspring, including infertility and / or subsequent pregnancy, but due to miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy and so on and did not obtain a live baby. For men, it is collectively referred to as infertility.        In women, the causes include pelvic/tubal factors, congenital anomalies of the uterus, cervical factors, etc. Endometrial receptivity (receptivity) is also of interest, although there are still no uniformly accurate predictors of the opening of the implantation window. Evaluation of infertility includes medical history, physical examination, ovulation assessment (BBT, mid-luteal serum P, cervical mucus, endometrial biopsy, ultrasound, LH test strips), endocrine status, anatomical evaluation (ultrasonography, HSG, MRI, hysteroscopy, etc.), and the less commonly used post-coital test at present. Treatment should address the etiology and influencing factors, e.g. hysteroscopic removal of endometrial polyps can double the clinical pregnancy rate in IUI (level 1-2 evidence); although fibroids alone cause only a minority of infertility, myoma removal is relatively safe, and ablation and uterine artery embolization are not recommended for patients with infertility combined with fibroids. Pregnancy is the work of both men and women. 20% of the causes of infertility are due to male factors alone, and the remaining 30% to 40% are related to male factors. Table of contents: accurate assessment of male infertility; providing routine treatment to male infertility patients; attention to genetic aspects of male infertility; active participation and full utilization of the ART process. Commonly used drugs in male medicine include: anti-estrogens, androgens, gonadotropins, gonadotropin-releasing hormones, aromatase inhibitors, anti-lactogens, vasopressin, hexoketone cocaine, sperm energizers, antioxidants, PDE5i, alpha blockers, multiple hormones, antibiotics, vitamins, etc. The doctor and the patient are one, and the doctor is the strongest and most reliable support for the patient, although miracles rarely happen, at least to make the patient in a difficult situation feel like a family member.
