An IOP curve is also not required in all patients when diagnosing glaucoma. If a patient has a high IOP at the time of the visit and has significant glaucomatous optic nerve damage and glaucomatous visual field defects, the diagnosis of glaucoma is confirmed and a 24-hour IOP curve is not necessary. There are several cases of 24-hour IOP monitoring: when there is suspicion of glaucoma and 24-hour IOP is needed, when there is suspicion of normal IOP glaucoma, when glaucoma has been diagnosed and surgery has been performed, and when there is further progression of visual function after laser or drug treatment and 24-hour IOP is needed. If the hospital has the conditions, 24-hour IOP should be done formally, and if conditions do not allow, 12-hour IOP monitoring in the outpatient clinic is also meaningful.
