This is a normal physiological condition and should be monitored. As the sinus node function declines with age, bradycardia may be a normal physiological phenomenon. If the elderly are not unwell, they should be observed and no special treatment is necessary for the time being. However, if an older person has symptoms such as dizziness, blackouts, weakness or symptoms caused by pre-existing heart disease or medication, they should be seen by a cardiologist and treated with medication or pacing therapy as appropriate.
