During the acute phase of HIV infection, some patients may develop symptoms associated with HIV viremia and acute damage to the immune system. Most patients will have fever, headache, general malaise, nausea, diarrhea, sore throat, etc. Some patients will have rash and swollen lymph nodes, some will have neurological symptoms, and even some mild patients may only have mild malaise and no other symptoms. In the acute phase of AIDS, most patients have mild clinical symptoms that do not require special treatment and will disappear on their own after a week or so. Some patients may have more severe clinical symptoms during the acute phase, accompanied by repeated high fever, for which symptomatic treatment with antipyretic drugs is required.
