Side effects of Xiao Chai Hu granules

  The side effects of Xiao Chai Hu granules have rarely been reported, and as a proprietary Chinese medicine for the clinical treatment of Shao Yang syndrome, Xiao Chai Hu granules are also labeled as “not yet clear” under “adverse reactions” in the instruction manual. A literature search revealed that some side effects of Xiao Chai Hu Tang were reported. Since Xiao Chai Hu Granules is a modern form of Xiao Chai Hu Tang, similar side effects may occur, as described below: 1. Interstitial pneumonia due to Xiao Chai Hu Tang has been reported more frequently, mainly due to the use of Xiao Chai Hu Tang with interferon. The association with Xiao Chai Hu Tang has been confirmed by X-ray, pathological tests and pharmacology.  2. Drug-related liver injury. There are reports of drug-related liver injury caused by Chai Hu both at home and abroad, mainly leading to jaundice, GOT and GPT elevation.  3. Hyperadrenocorticism-like syndrome. Long-term use of Xiao Chai Hu Tang can lead to increased blood pressure, swelling, water and sodium retention and weight gain, and other manifestations of aldosteronism.  4. Drug-related cystitis. The manifestation is difficulty in urination, painful urination, frequent urination, and even hematuria.  5. Digestive system symptoms. Such as stomach pain and discomfort, reduced appetite, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  6. Allergic reaction. Skin erythema and urticaria, etc.
