Treatment of spastic oblique neck reuse of five heart points

Spastic squint is an organic disorder of the extrapyramidal system characterized by twisting or clonic tilting of the cervical muscles and is part of the hypermobility-hypotonia syndrome. The onset of the disease is slow, with the head rotating involuntarily to one side and the neck flexing to the other side. It can be aggravated by emotional stress and disappears completely during sleep. The incidence of spastic squint is related to gender and age, with the incidence in women being 1.5 to 1.9 times higher than that in men, and the peak age of onset being 50 to 60 years. The cause of the disease is still unknown, and there is no specific treatment in Western medicine, and the efficacy of drugs and surgery is not exact. The representative treatment methods include muscle dissection, thalamic nucleus stimulation or destruction, paraneoplastic microvascular decompression + cervical nerve root dissection, selective dorsal spinal nerve branch dissection, etc. However, all the above surgical treatments invariably require permanent destruction of nerves, muscles or brain structures. My teacher, Prof. Wu Lianzhong, has a unique method of acupuncture treatment for spastic diagonal neck, which is based on TCM evidence-based treatment. Firstly, the four types of symptoms are spasm, spasm and wind, tremor, and vibration; secondly, the four types of symptoms are phlegm obstruction, heat stasis, deficiency of liver and kidney, and loss of regulating power. Then identify the tendon knot tendon gathering, that is, knot for the cervical tendon condensation tight, with hard, deep, fixed, lasting characteristics; gathering for the cervical tendon gathering and scattering, with thick, surface, floating shallow, loose, not fixed characteristics. Finally, the meridians are identified, and the meridian points or tendons of different meridians are selected for acupuncture. The identification methods for spastic diagonal neck include: opening the orifices and smooth the tendons, clearing the meridians and dispersing the knots, eliminating the congestion and removing the aggregates, strengthening the governor and reviving the decay, nourishing the yin and resting the wind, and lowering the turbidity and cleaning the phlegm. The core treatment method is to use the “Five Heart Points” to open the orifices and smooth the tendons, “Five Heart Points” is the abbreviation of the five acupuncture points of Shuigou, Laogong (bilateral) and Yongquan (bilateral), named because the five points are located in the five centers of the body (i.e., the heart of the head, the heart of the hands and the heart of the feet). It is also known as the method of eliminating congestion and removing congestion, which is based on the use of the “five heart points” and the selection of the tendon knots and tendon congestion, and the application of the Yang stab method. Yang acupuncture is a multi-needle acupuncture method of the Nei Jing, which means “to spread out” and is suitable for treating a wide range of painful conditions. In the case of spastic diagonal neck, Yang stabbing is performed by first stabbing a needle in the middle of the lesion, directly into the meridian tendon, and then stabbing around it, taking 4~8 stitches, all of which are stabbed in the area where the nodes are clustered. The number of needles is related to the degree of spasm in the neck, i.e. the heavier the spasm and the higher the frequency of attacks, the more needles are needed; the lighter the spasm and the lower the frequency of attacks, the fewer needles are needed.
