Rastelli surgery for aortic dislocation

Aortic dislocation is a complex congenital cardiac macrovascular malformation that accounts for approximately 0.2% of live births and 10% of precordial morbidity. The Rastelli procedure was first proposed by Rastelli et al. in 1969 and has achieved good results in treating cases of large-vessel malposition with ventricular septal defect and left ventricular outflow tract stenosis. Since September 1991, our center has been treating more than 120 children with ventricular septal defect with the Rastelli procedure. The ratio of male to female in the whole group was 6:4, and the average age was 5.6±2.1 years (2.1-13yr); the average weight was 17.2±4.3kg (9.5-35kg). Complete transposition of the great arteries accounted for 4/5 and corrected transposition of the great arteries accounted for 1/5. In addition to ventricular septal defect, other concomitant malformations included right-sided heart, endocarditis, left pulmonary artery defect, mitral valve cleft defect and tricuspid stenosis, in addition to atrial septal defect and arteriovenous insufficiency.
