Treatment of keloid (scar) growths

After the healing of a burn or trauma wound, some patients will experience scarring hyperplasia. In my previous article I gave you a brief overview of the conditions in which hyperplasia may occur. The process of keloid (scar) proliferation typically lasts for 2 years. For 6-9 months after healing, the scar will continue to thicken and harden, become congested and itchy. After that, it will gradually flatten out, but will not return to its pre-injury state. after 2 years, there will be no significant change in the scar. All we have to do is to intervene with medications during this process to make the scar fade and flatten as much as possible. The more internationally recognized and effective anti-scarring methods are as follows: 1. Use a silicone preparation (Senka), cut to the size of the wound, and apply it topically. Each piece of Senka is repeated daily for 1 month after washing, and the total course of treatment is about 1.5 years. 2.Senka should be used daily for a longer period of time as much as possible, and can be used at night during sleep in summer. The scar skin and senka should be washed and dried daily. When drying senka, cumene cream can be used on the scar with massage treatment and adhered to for 20 minutes. 3. Silicone preparations should be used with elastic sleeve. The elastic sleeve is used as to fix the silicone sheet and compress the scar proliferation, which can effectively reduce the congestion and proliferation. 4.If eczema appears, the use of elastic sleeve and senka should be stopped and treatment should be continued after improvement. Our skin cleansing cream can be used topically to treat eczema. 5. It can be combined with auxiliary methods such as subcutaneous injection, and more serious scar hyperplasia should be treated by surgery. In addition, in 2014, our hospital was the first to carry out the latest fractional laser scar treatment method, which can treat old scars left at young age and improve the appearance and function of non-surgical scar treatment.
