Breast augmentation, also known as breast augmentation or breast enlargement, is an operation to enlarge the volume and shape of the breasts by implanting medical materials or transplanting own fat tissue, so as to improve the female body shape and restore the unique curves and beauty of women. Although women with poorly developed breasts have small or flat breasts, breast augmentation is easy to achieve good results because the breast tissue structure is intact, the skin is intact and elastic, and can be expanded. So, what do you need to pay attention to after breast augmentation? What are the complications? The following are the precautions and complications after breast augmentation surgery.
A, after breast augmentation precautions
1, two weeks after surgery should be avoided within the sexual behavior, so as to avoid external force bump breast.
2.Patients who are preparing for pregnancy should preferably start six months after the surgery and wait until the shape of the breast has stabilized. Breast augmentation surgery will not affect the ability to breastfeed.
3, Breast massage can be started one week after surgery.
4, Some studies have shown that taking 800 units of vitamin E (400 units in the morning and 400 units in the evening) daily for more than six months after surgery can help prevent the hardening of the implant envelope.
5.The post-operative wound scar may harden in the first three months after surgery, manifesting as a raised wound and redness, which is the normal development process of scarring, and will generally fade to insignificance after six months.
6.A very small number of patients may have numbness in the nipple after surgery, but it will return to normal after a few months.
7.After breast augmentation surgery, there is usually pain and local bruising on the breasts, the extent of which varies from person to person, depending on the method, nature of the surgery and individual’s physical condition.
8.Daily activities can be resumed two to three days after the surgery.
9. For the first month after surgery, you should wear a soft, well-fitting bra or positioning bra (depending on the surgical approach and surgical method) as instructed by the surgeon, or leave the bra on to allow the breast tissue to form naturally. The breasts will feel swollen and not soft at the beginning, but after one to two months, the texture and shape of the breasts will be more natural.
10. About breastfeeding: silicone breast implants can be used for breastfeeding if there is no leakage. The implant is usually placed behind the breast or the pectoralis major muscle, so it is not easy to cause damage to the breast tissue and breast ducts, so it will not affect the lactation and breastfeeding function. You can go to the hospital before pregnancy to check whether there is any leakage of the implant. Breast augmentation with autologous fat injection – fully able to breastfeed. Some autologous fat injections into the breast may form fat cysts or calcification, but they have no effect on breastfeeding and do not threaten the health of the baby. Breast augmentation with artificial synthetic materials such as Omnidene is not suitable for breastfeeding.
Second, complications after breast augmentation surgery
1.Infection
Redness, swelling, heat and pain are the main manifestations of infection, which can occur in any period after surgery. If there are no systemic symptoms, subacute or chronic infection is difficult to diagnose, and if the symptoms do not subside in time after proper treatment, it is recommended to remove the artificial implant.
2.Prosthesis pericardial contracture
The formation of the envelope around the postoperative prosthesis is the normal physiological response of the body to the soft tissue of foreign body implantation. Envelope formation exists to varying degrees in all candidates and varies from person to person. Severe contracture of the envelope requires removal of the prosthesis.
3.Prosthesis exposure
Excessive skin tension, resulting in local skin necrosis, intraoperative contusion of the incision edge, too thin cover affects circulation can cause the artificial prosthesis exposed. Once the prosthesis exposed need to remove the prosthesis.
4.Prosthesis rupture
Ruptured prosthesis usually needs to be removed and replaced, however, implicit rupture of prosthesis can be asymptomatic. Breast augmentation patients should have regular checkups for early detection of ruptured implants.
