Chinese medicine for sleep apnea syndrome

According to Chinese medicine, snoring (sleep apnea syndrome) is related to the dysfunction of the heart, lungs, spleen and kidney organs. The spleen is the master of muscles; if the spleen is deficient, the middle qi will sink and the muscles in the pharynx will relax, decrease in muscle tone and increase in collapse; the lung is the master of breathing and the kidney is the master of receiving qi; if the lung and kidney are deficient, the respiratory function will be weakened; if the heart and kidney do not intersect, frequent urination at night and restless sleep will occur. According to the Ling Shu, “The ear is the place where the clan veins are gathered.” The human ear is the part of the skin surface of the auricle that is connected to the internal organs, meridians, tissues, organs, limbs and bones of the body, and is also where the meridian qi is infused, and its healing effect is realized through the meridian system. The benign stimulation of the ear points is conducted through the meridians to the diseased parts of the body, maximizing the body’s ability to resist disease and heal itself. Acupuncture points: Shen Men, Sympathetic, Subcortical, Heart, Lung, Spleen, Kidney, and Pituitary. The combination of these points can strengthen the spleen and ascend the muscles, raise the Yang and lift the sockets, increase the muscle tone of the pharynx, improve hypoventilation; tonify the lungs and kidneys, regulate the excitation and inhibition of the respiratory center, and enhance respiratory control; traffic the heart and kidneys, calm the mind, regulate the function of the vegetative nerves, improve sleep, and improve sleep quality. Method: After local disinfection of the auricle with 75% alcohol, fix the auricle with the left hand and use the right hand to take a 0.4cm×0.4cm anti-allergic adhesive tape with Wang Bu Liuxing seeds with tweezers, stick it on the auricular point and press it to make it fixed. If there is soreness, pain, swelling and heat in the ear acupuncture point, the acupuncture point is accurate. 3-5 times a day, 10-20 presses per acupuncture point, replace the seeds every 3 days, 10d is a course of treatment. Snoring in Chinese medicine: People with obese body type snore more often because of their large body size, large lung capacity and heavy breathing force, thus causing snoring. According to the view of TCM, “fat people have more phlegm”, and phlegm drink affects the gas exchange and entry and exit of the respiratory tract. Therefore, in the selection and application of prescriptions, Er Chen Tang, Wen Gong Tang, and Hooked Vine San are added and subtracted, and as long as the evidence is clear, not only can they get relief, but also their weight can be reduced. Diseases of the nose: According to Chinese medicine, “the lung opens the nose”, and the lung is the master of the voice. People with nose disease, especially long nasal polyps or nasal congestion, often snore. During the day, when there is a lot of activity, they do not feel stuffy nose, but when they lie down in bed, their nose is immediately blocked, and they need to breathe through their mouths, so they snore in all directions, and it is very shocking. Therefore, if it is caused by nose problems, you can use Ge Gen Tang, Da Xiao Qing Long Tang, Scutellaria Gui Zhu Gan Tang, Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang to harmonize the qi and blood of Ying and Wei, and add aromatic and clearing dahurica, Hsio Xin, Yuan Zhi and Cang Er Zi. Cold: Some people also have snoring symptoms when they have wind-cold colds. If the cold is caused by cold, just use the formula of ephedra soup and Ge Gen Tang for relieving symptoms and generating sweat, especially for wind-heat type, you can use hemp apricot and stone sweet soup with flavor, and the effect will come out immediately. The most commonly used remedies in Chinese medicine to treat colds are Gui Zhi Tang and Ephedra Tang. Ephedra Tang is the number one remedy in Zhang Zhongjing’s prescriptions to open the table and expel evil and to generate sweat, consisting of Ephedra, Gui Zhi, Almond and Licorice. Ephedra relaxes muscle tissue and disperses cold; cinnamon branch is pungent and warm, which can draw wind evil out of the muscle surface; almond is bitter and sweet, which can dispel cold and lower qi, resolve phlegm, release spasm, and has a sedative effect; licorice can disperse and harmonize the middle. Ephedra soup can be used whenever patients have external wind-cold, influenza, pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, nasal congestion, as well as intestinal fever, cystitis, and rheumatism of the joints.
