How long can you live with throat cancer?

The survival time of throat cancer patients needs to be determined according to the disease stage and treatment. Pharyngeal cancer mainly includes nasopharyngeal cancer, oropharyngeal cancer and laryngeal cancer. Patients may experience symptoms such as throat pain, hoarseness and difficulty in swallowing, and the main treatment methods are surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. The survival time of patients with this disease is longer than that of patients with large organ malignancies, which should be determined according to the stage and treatment. In early stage, the tumor is relatively limited, without invasion of surrounding tissues or distant metastasis, and if the surgical resection is complete and sensitive to chemotherapy, the 5-year survival rate of patients is relatively high, up to 50% or more. If the tumor has already invaded the surrounding tissues or has distant metastasis when detected, i.e. to the middle and late stage, the patient’s prognosis is poorer and the survival time is shorter. If patients have the above symptoms that do not heal repeatedly or progressively worsen, they need to go to ENT department of hospital in time to exclude pharyngeal cancer to avoid missing the best treatment time.
