How to treat hemiplegia

Hemiplegia is a syndrome caused by cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, brain tumor, encephalitis, meningitis and other intracerebral lesions, with hemiplegia or single limb paralysis as the main clinical manifestation. The main cause of hemiplegia is cerebrovascular disease, which includes hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease and ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Cerebral hemorrhage: absolute bed rest, monitoring of vital signs, keeping the airway open, oxygen administration, stopping further bleeding, preventing rebleeding, giving hemostatic and anticoagulant drugs, reducing and controlling cerebral edema, lowering intracranial pressure, controlling hypertension, maintaining water-electrolyte balance, preventing and treating complications (infection, stress ulcers, etc.), choosing suitable surgical methods to eliminate the hematoma if there are indications for surgery. ② Cerebral infarction: ultra-early thrombolysis (within 4.5~6 hours of onset); bed rest, monitoring vital signs, keeping the airway unobstructed, oxygenation, infection control; fibrin-lowering, anti-platelet aggregation; neuroprotective therapy; hyperbaric oxygen therapy. 2. Rehabilitation: After the vital signs are stabilized and the condition is relatively stable, early rehabilitation treatment is started within 48 hours to provide physical and skill training to reduce the disability rate, enhance neurological recovery and improve the quality of life. This includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise therapy, etc. ①Physical therapy: including cold therapy, electrical stimulation therapy, electronic biofeedback, joint mobility training, muscle stretching training, muscle strength training, transfer training, gait training, etc. ②Operational therapy: including basic movements of daily life for clothing, food, housing and transportation, occupational labor movements and craft labor movements training, etc.; mainly training the function of upper limbs and improving the patient’s ability to perform daily activities. The purpose is to let patients gradually adapt to various needs of personal life, family life and social life. ③Exercise therapy: through active or passive methods, adjust and enhance body functions, develop compensatory mechanisms, and promote the recovery of paralyzed limb functions. 3. Chinese medicine treatment: There are many methods of Chinese medicine treatment, including acupuncture, massage, Chinese medicine, cupping, electroacupuncture, acupuncture point magnetic therapy and other treatments can promote the recovery of limb function. 4.Care: Provide nutritious and easily digestible food to meet the supply of protein, inorganic salt and total caloric energy; provide language training to patients with aphasia, which can restore their speaking ability to a certain extent; listen to music, practice musical instruments, painting and other activities to uplift the patient’s spirit, and use psychotherapy to promote the patient’s psychological and physical recovery. In conclusion, the treatment of hemiplegia is long and slow, so early rehabilitation and persistent treatment are very important to improve the quality of life of patients.
