In recent years, as the incidence of thyroid cancer continues to rise rapidly, our nuclear medicine clinic is overcrowded. In order to provide patients with high quality and efficient medical services, please make the following preparations during your first visit: 1. The objectives are to destroy postoperative residual or metastatic lesions, reduce the risk of recurrence or metastasis, and assess the disease in real time. Iodine-131 therapy has been performed for more than 70 years and has gradually matured and become an important part of the classic treatment model for differentiated thyroid cancer (surgery + iodine-131 + thyroxine). 2. Since it takes some time for wound healing and local tissue edema to be relieved due to surgical trauma, it is more difficult to interpret ultrasound and other related examinations in a short period of time. Therefore, it is recommended that post-operative patients take thyroxine preparations (e.g., eugenol, Raltez, thyroid tablets, etc.) under the guidance of the surgeon and recuperate at ease, and come to my clinic for the first visit 2-4 weeks after surgery. As I also see patients with other diseases (e.g. hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, bone metastases, etc.), the specialist clinic on Tuesday morning is overcrowded and may not provide enough time for the first consultation, so it is highly recommended that post-operative thyroid cancer patients choose the special needs clinic on Tuesday afternoon for their first consultation. In order to ensure the quality of treatment and the interests of patients, I have strictly limited the number of outpatient clinics. Tuesday afternoon special needs clinic appointment phone: 0571-86006016; Tuesday morning specialist clinic appointment platform: 114, 12580, 96365 or Zhejiang online. 5. Regarding the consultation, the special needs clinic is registered on the 8th floor of Building 3 (registration fee: 150 RMB), and the specialist clinic is registered on the 2nd floor of Building 1 (registration fee: 14 RMB), and then you can go to the 224th consultation room in the south section of Building 2. In order to maintain good medical order and protect the privacy of patients, please follow the instructions of the call system to consult in order and make sure to have one consultation room per person. When waiting for consultation, please prepare the discharge summary, pathology report, various examination images and reports, outpatient medical record book and other related materials to improve the efficiency as much as possible. The main tasks of the outpatient clinic include: (1) reviewing the patient’s previous treatment history and forming a preliminary diagnosis; (2) issuing the necessary tests (e.g. blood tests, neck ultrasound, etc.), assessing the condition in real time, clarifying the indications for admission and excluding contraindications to treatment; (3) informing the patient of the preliminary treatment plan and related precautions; (4) taking the main information such as the surgical discharge summary (a copy is acceptable) and contact phone numbers, and completing the inpatient bed reservation; etc. (4) To obtain the main information such as surgery discharge form (copy is also acceptable), contact phone number, etc. and complete the reservation of inpatient bed; etc. 6. Since some of the examination reports can only be taken out in the afternoon of the following day, some patients (especially those seen on Tuesday afternoon) may not be able to complete all the above tasks on the day of the first consultation, so please make an appointment for the next consultation. 7. Thyroid cancer has common biological characteristics of malignant tumors such as local infiltration and distant metastasis, and should be treated as early as possible. However, the number of beds in our hospital is limited, and first-time outpatients usually need to wait for a period of time before they can be admitted for iodine-131 treatment. I will fully understand and respect their choice of other medical institutions with relevant medical qualifications for timely treatment, while making full and reasonable use of available medical resources. 8. If you have any other concerns or would like to receive more targeted information prior to your visit, you may wish to contact me by phone through our telephone consultation service.
