Does it matter if your platelets are a little high?

The reference range of normal platelet value is (100-300)×10^9/L. If the platelet is just a little high, not more than 400×10^9/L, and other indicators are normal, and the patient has no uncomfortable symptoms, it usually does not matter, no special treatment is needed, regular review can be done. Clinically, high platelets are commonly associated with increased platelet reactivity, mainly due to acute and chronic inflammatory infections, iron deficiency anemia, acute hemolysis and other diseases; it may also be due to splenectomy, trauma, malignant tumor or the body is in a stressful state. Patients are advised to drink more water and eat less high-fat, high-protein, spicy and greasy food. If the patient has high platelets, along with fever, cough, phlegm and emaciation, he should go to the hospital promptly. Under the guidance of the doctor, review the blood routine, blood cell analysis and other tests. If necessary, bone marrow aspiration can be performed under the guidance of the doctor to clarify the diagnosis and then treat the symptoms. For example, if platelets are high due to infection, antibiotics such as aminoglycoside antibiotics and macrolide antibiotics can be applied as prescribed by the doctor; if platelets are high due to tumor, surgery to remove the tumor combined with radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other comprehensive methods can be used. Usually, after the primary disease is cured, the platelets will return to normal.
