What is BAHA?

Baha is a device that uses the principle of sound transmission from the skull to compensate for hearing. Baha can be worn by either a soft band or surgical implant. A soft band is a small elastic band that is attached to the forehead or behind the ear so that the Baha sound processor is in contact with the wearer’s skull, thereby transmitting sound through the skull to the cochlea. Surgical implantation is achieved by surgically implanting the Baha implant and base into the wearer’s skull. After implantation, the Baha sound processor is attached directly to the base and can be removed when not needed. Compared to surgical implantation, the softband method is easy to wear. Anyone can wear Baha quickly through the softband, regardless of age, especially for children who are too young for surgical implantation; surgical implantation provides better listening effect and higher aesthetic and comfort.
