Can you get an MRI with absorbable anchor nails for ankle ligaments?

MRI can be done after repair and fixation of ankle ligament injury with absorbable anchor nail, which usually does not affect the review or examination of other structures of the ankle joint. Absorbable anchors are made of a mixture of L-lactic acid and hydroxyapatite, and usually end with sutures made of polymerized polyethylene to close the injured ligaments. Because of the non-metallic nature of the material, an MRI will be reviewed after ligament anchor fixation and repair to see how the injury has been repaired. When performing ankle examinations, the absorbable anchors have less obstruction and influence on the periarticular structures and therefore do not affect the results of the examination of the ankle joint.
