Is a crooked neck an oblique neck?

The scientific name for a crooked neck is congenital torticollis. Causes: In most children, the direct cause of torticollis is a muscle called the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which is too short by nature (one muscle on each side of the body, which nods and tilts the head back when moving together, and tilts the head sideways when moving unilaterally) and has a contracture that causes the neck to be tilted to one side. There are very few children who have crooked neck because the first cervical vertebra and the second cervical vertebra are not connected well, etc. The manifestation of crooked neck: 1, is the head to the left, chin to the right; or, the head to the right, chin to the left. 2. In most children with congenital squint (about half a month after birth), a hard lump (a lump on one side of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, then the lump becomes hard, inactive, poke-shaped and finger-sized) can often be felt below the sternocleidomastoid muscle (at the root of the neck) that does not move. 3. In some children, there will be concomitant congenital hip dislocation. How can parents further clarify the presence of congenital oblique neck? When parents find that their child has a crooked neck, or a wang bun at the base of the neck, they can help the child to turn the neck, if it feels tighter, there may be a problem. You need to take your child to the hospital and ask your doctor for further judgment. Treatment: Happily, congenital squint is not a very complicated disease. The earlier it is detected, the better the treatment will be, and children under 1 year old are treated conservatively with massage. If the results are not good, surgery can be considered after the age of 1 year. Conservative treatment is passive pulling and massage. Passive pulling: reverse the direction of the crooked neck, set the head to the other side (pulling the head to the healthy side, several times a day, 10-15 times each time). Apply sand pillow to fix it during sleep. As the child grows, the strength of the manipulation increases, the occipital part is rotated to the healthy side and the lower jaw to the affected side, several times a day, persistently, most of them can obtain satisfactory results. Massage: mainly for the contracture of the sternocleidomastoid muscle massage, play a role in relaxing muscle fibers. There are many massage techniques, but the principles and principles are the same.
